The importance of knowing your measurements is underrated. There are so many fashionable and fashion conscious people out there that simply don’t know. It’s something that may take 15 minutes but puts you in line to take your wardrobe to a whole new level.
You can go to a local store with a tailor or your dry cleaners that has a tailor. Personally I brought in my own chart so that I had all the measurements that I needed. Between bespoke designers and so many other makers of custom made suits and shirts for all occasions there’s less reasons not to than advantages to having your measurements.
How many times have you been walking down the street and seen someone wearing the same shirt, suit or clothes and thought ugh. I will speak for myself on that one. One to many. That is what lead me to decide to get more of my clothes custom made. Seeking to avoid the head nod and point to the same article of clothing.
I had a “friend” that would shop off of my friends back rather than seek out styles and clothes of his own. I remember going to an event and he not only bought the same suit but had it on at the same time. Spending the night hearing jokes of “check out the twins” & “mini me” etc. left such a bad taste that I swore I wouldn’t go through that again.
Yes, I know some may read this and say “what’s the big deal?” It’s possible that I’m just vain but that may have to be a scarlet letter that I simply have to wear with pride. *smiles* Life has taught me to applaud the individual. The trendsetter. Those setting their own path and footprints to follow.
Style is such a personal thing and an extension of ones personality. Setting aside 15 minutes to put myself in a position where I could get what I want vs what’s being mass produced. Totally worth it in my book. Although I admit growing up in the house with two models probably has a lot to do with it. The bar was set pretty early on for having a sense of style and the good feeling that comes along with it.
I provided a measurement chart for both women and men. If you’re remotely relating to this post. Take the 15 minutes. It will put you in some rarefied air that I’ve come to appreciate. Dare I say so will your significant other.
